Dream It. Achieve It in 2008.

Your community organizer and editor has the honor of being quoted in the current issue of Pink Magazine on a subject that holds deep-seated meaning for me...right down  to what psychologists describe as the unconscious level.  The article is headlined, "Dream it. Achieve it. When it comes to their careers, more women let dreams be their guides."  The fact is that dreams have always played a very powerful role in my life.

As the article, written by Linda DiProperzio, points out: "During a typical life span, a person spends about six years dreaming (or about two hours each night)."

Dreams are thought of as a way of making the unconscious conscious, according to Larina Kase, Psy.D., a business psychologist and founder of Women Entrepreneur's Habitat. "They are often seen as keys to your inner feelings and unfilled needs."

When I was ready to venture out on my own as an independent HR consultant, I struggled with the question of what I should name my new company.  Before going to bed one night I asked myself that very question out loud.

That night I had a very vivid dream where I was walking through an urban neighborhood in the midst of a riot. There were people running all over, but I wasn't frightened. I walked up to a police officer and asked him what was going on, and he replied that someone had "incited a riot."  I woke up the next morning and said to my husband that the name of my new company was going to be Incite Strateges. The rest is history.

Veronica Tonay, Ph.D., a psychotherapist and dream researcher, found that the solutions that surfaced in dreams were especially significant for women. From my personal experience, I can tell you that was certainly the case for me.

Here's wishing you a  very imaginative outlook for 2008 that fulfills your deepest aspirations at both the unconscious and conscious levels! Pleasant dreams!
